When someone becomes displeased with what you have done, or what you have failed to do that they expected from you, if they are dysfunctional enough they may execute a method from the silent generation and the baby boomer generation called the silent treatment.
The silent treatment makes connection impossible.
The silent treatment makes necessary discussions impossible.
The silent treatment avoids accountability for total shut down and lack of empathy.
The silent treatment does not seek to make space, to create opportunity to process, or to heal, but to punish.
The silent treatment says, “you do not matter. Your needs do not matter. You do not exist to me.“
When a person does this to you, it may trigger core wound issues, that you did not cause, and pain you do not deserve.
